Ribbon cutting in Lenexa celebrates growth and success of Microbiology division

Thursday, May 29, we hosted a ribbon cutting event to celebrate the recent expansion to our Lenexa Microbiology operation and to bring awareness to the local community that we are one of the area’s largest scientific employers. City and state government officials were present to acknowledge the importance of the event and to join with other local Bioscience leaders and business partners to tour the facility, network with each other, and celebrate the event with a representative set of employees. It was a wonderful opportunity to reach out to the local community and remind people that we are a great place to work and that we are doing great things to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer through Microbiology.

Guidelines for Ordering Iodine Containing Products

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) enacted a final rule requiring the regulation of iodine as a List 1 chemical under the chemical regulatory provisions of the Controlled Substances Act (the “Act”). The Act requires that all manufacturers and distributors confirm the "proof of identity" of persons making regulated purchases of List 1 chemicals including iodine containing products. "Proof of identity" requires that positive identification and authorization status be established for all persons making regulated purchases of List 1 chemicals.

Remel Xpect® Flu A&B Test Kit Detects Avian Flu

Lenexa, Kansas - Nov. 15, 2005 - Remel Inc., a global provider of high-quality microbiology products, confirmed today that the Xpect® Flu A&B test kit will successfully detect Avian Flu strains H5N1 and H9N2. Recent analytical-study results were submitted to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and cleared for incorporation into the Analytical Sensitivity section of the Xpect Flu A&B package insert. Testing was performed in China and concluded in August.
